Around the world, millions go to bed hungry. While some mothers in Yemen wake up to children who are dead because of malnutrition, families in Palestine wake up to open skies because the roof of their house has been knocked down. Then there’s the flood in Pakistan, that has indiscriminately washed away buildings and people alike.
Life seems to have become an everyday battle for the innocent in these parts of the world.
You know what will make their battle even harder?
Skipping GivingTuesday!
WHAT IS GIVING TUESDAY?
GivingTuesday is a movement created to unite us all in a day of generosity, to encourage one another to make a difference in the world at the start of this busy holiday season. It started as a day for anyone, anywhere, to give, and it’s grown into the biggest GIVING movement in the world (givingtuesday.org). This year GivingTuesday falls on November 29. The best way to help people in Pakistan, Palestine and Yemen—who are miles away from us—is to seize the opportunity GivingTuesday provides.
No matter what your giving capacity may be, with Madinah there’s something every single one of us can do.
PALESTINE
WHY DOES PALESTINE NEED US?
Since 2007, Palestine has been under a land, sea and air blockade imposed by Israel. The blockade has trapped the residents of Gaza so that they have to struggle for survival. Children are injured and scared, the young do not see a future with the privileges of education robbed away from them, and parents are unemployed: not sure how to provide shelter or necessary medical aid for their children. More than 2.45 million Palestinians need humanitarian protection.
Our partners on the ground have been assessing—and catering to—the needs of people in Palestine. As one of the first organizations delivering relief in Gaza right from the start of the recent altercation, our team is actively providing medical aid, housing, and food to the victims of these horrific attacks.
Meet Abdullah.
He recently lost his father. Upon asking how we could help him, he said he needed help becoming a teacher.
He didn’t ask for food, clothing or shelter. Why, we wondered.
He explained, “Without our father we can’t get anything done. He would cover the expenses, buy us clothes, and take us to school. My mother is unable to do these things as she has to take care of my siblings. When I get older, I want to be a teacher so I can help my family alleviate hardship.”
At Madinah, this is what we do: try to improve the lives of people TODAY with a promise of TOMORROW.
With your support, we have been able to invest in the education of many orphans like Abdullah, who will, God-willing, be able to ensure that future generations do not fall victim to exploitation, poverty and neglect.
HOW CAN I PARTICIPATE ON GIVINGTUESDAY?

PAKISTAN
WHY DO WE NEED TO LEND OUR SUPPORT TO PAKISTAN?
One-third of Pakistan is underwater due to the recent catastrophic flooding; the country received 60% of its monsoon season rain in just three weeks. As a result, 1,000,000 homes have been destroyed, rendering 33 million people displaced. These families have no clothes, food, shelter, or access to medical care.
As the first Canadian Muslim charity to operate in Pakistan, our partners have established strong networks and partnerships to deliver quick and effective aid. From the start of the country’s environmental disaster, the Flood Relief for Pakistan Victims project was launched. Our team on the ground was providing heartfelt emergency assistance to families as part of the first phase of its response.
The project was aimed at the most vulnerable flood victims, such as the disabled, elderly, and children. This phase focused on cash assistance, delivering basic necessities such as food baskets stocked with pantry staples, drinking water, and hygiene items, and setting up temporary/transitional shelter arrangements. In addition to this, medical camps were set up to treat those who need immediate attention.
But we still need your help for Phase II of our emergency response plan for Pakistan. This phase focuses on long term stability to help families recover from the floods and resume their normal lives.
WHAT CAN I DO FOR THE FLOOD VICTIMS THIS GIVING TUESDAY?

YEMEN
WHAT IS HAPPENING IN YEMEN?
According to the UN, 24.1 million people in Yemen are in need of humanitarian assistance. An estimated 2.3 million children under the age of 5 are victims of acute malnutrition, and 400,000 of these children are suffering from such severe acute malnutrition that they could tragically die if they do not receive urgent treatment.
Apart from the hunger crisis, conflict-stricken Yemen is also crippled with lack of clean water, displaced families, disease and an economic decline.
And as though this wasn’t enough, winter is on its way to aggravate the situation;
Did you know? Winter kills 20 times more people than any other season.
With the unthinkable happening before our eyes, is there any excuse for us to simply walk away?
OVER $1.2 MILLION DELIVERED TO YEMEN IN 2021
With the help of over 65,000 worldwide donors, our registered charity partner has been able to invest more than $1.2 million in Yemen in 2021 alone. This has helped us:

Provide access to clean water to 11,200 Yemenis
Provide ongoing Winter, Medical and COVID-19 relief
